Drawstring Bag, Mode Bespoke

PATTERN NOTES:

Yarn: I used 2 cakes of Darn Good Yarn’s Sport Weight Silk, color: Fireworks. Each cake is 50g / 150 yds, and it is 100% recycled silk. I also used additional yarn to complete the cord (drawstring). You won’t require an entire cake, and can use leftover yarn from other projects (which is what I did).

Note: You can use any yarn you want, in any weight for this project. I made a bag using #2 yarn and another using a  #4 medium cotton yarn just to get a feel for the sizing difference. I did have to switch the hook size for the #4 yarn to a 6.5 mm hook in order to accommodate the change in yarn weight. That said, should you choose a different yarn weight, check the label and use a hook size 0.5 mm larger than the recommended size.

Construction: The width of the initial chain determines the width of the bag, and each row adds to the length. Crochet a width of approximately 12 in / 30 cm, which is 41 stitches in #2 sport yarn, or 31 stitches in #4 medium yarn.

For the length, crochet 22 inches / 56 cm  (79 rows) in the #2 yarn. The same row count in the larger yarn made a smaller bag (though you can adjust it to whatever length you want).

Multiples: Odd numbers.
