Happy new year! I know this is a bit late, seeing as how we’re more than halfway through January, but it’s my first post of the year. Today’s pattern is one I’ve been working on for several weeks, and I can FINALLY share it with you all!

This is one of the many pattern’s I’ll be posting in The Nephew Collection, a new collection of garment, blanket, and general baby patterns designed for my first nephew! This will be my sister’s first baby, and this proud aunt-to-be is going all out!

Unlike in previous years, I will no longer be posting weekly patterns and tutorials. The designs I’m working on for this year take quite a bit longer to make, and are more advanced. So you’ll see maybe 1-2 patterns a month. I may still post a video or two talking about crochet-related topics, but just know that though patterns are not posting as frequently, I am still working hard to come up with fresh new pattern ideas!

Also, garments in The Nephew Collection are not just for babies. I’m making every pattern a measurement-based pattern so that you can crochet it in ANY size you want. I’m talking any size, from newborn baby to 4XL! I will do my best to provide information about sizing for each pattern, or at least teach you how to take the necessary measurements so that you can make a garment that fits YOU.

So thank you for joining me in this adventure, and for reading this insanely long post. Without more blah, let’s get to the good stuff!

Materials:

Yarn: This one is easy, you can use any yarn you want. I’ve made this using fingering yarn, DK, and worsted and the cardigans have all turned out great!

Hook: You will need a Tunisian Hook for this project, but the size of the hook will depend on your yarn weight. Check your yarn’s label and use the recommended hook size for your selected yarn.

Buttons: These are optional. You can use any button, and however many buttons you want.

Additional supplies: Stitch markers, measuring tape, scissors, yarn needle, and stitch counter.

Sizing:

I’ve put together a standard sizing chart for the most common sizes people have requested. Please note that one size does not fit all, so it’s best to check this measurements against a well-fitting sweater of yours to make sure your Kai Cardigan will fit.

A printable PDF version of this sizing chart is available in the shop for $1.99. These will be my go-to sizing chart for sweaters, so if you plan to try out some of my sweater patterns, this is a good chart to own. Also, if you purchase the full pattern, you will receive 2 PDFs: the written pattern and the sizing chart.
