Here’s a quick (relatively), and easy spring/fall project you can work up using some simple crochet stitches. You’ll just need to take one measurement (your arm span), and the rest of the pattern works up easily.
If you’re making a medium-sized shawl (I’m a short gal with a small arm span), you’ll need approximately 4 skeins of bulky yarn (392 yds per skein) in your main color, and 1 skein in your accent color.
Now, yarn dye lots being what they are, it wouldn’t hurt to have an extra skein of each just in case, or two if you’re making a larger size.
A 10 mm hook is what I used, but then again, if you would rather make this a lighter fabric, you can use a lighter weight yarn. Just make sure to check the label and use 2 hook sizes larger than what the label recommends.

Happy crocheting!
